The side grab rails come in handy when carrying passengers. I used mine with a pair of happy trail racks and side cases with good results. It will work with the stock Dario side cases as well as various aftermarket cases as well.
I sold my r1200gs and don't need this Givi top case rack any longer. It has always been stored in doors and well cared for.
